Meet Nicole Cornish, our new president and chief operating officer

She brings great insight into how we can strategically counsel existing and new clients

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Cornish as our President and Chief Operating Officer. Nicole is a brilliant, engaging, analytical thinker who knows how to make a growing organization like Subject Matter more effective for our clients and a really great place to work.

“It is very rare to find a firm like Subject Matter that can combine issue advocacy and creative thinking,” Nicole says. “Subject Matter has managed to merge those two left- and right-brain ways of thinking.”

Nicole comes to us from Burson-Marsteller, where she served as U.S. Chief Operating Officer. While helping to run one of the world’s Top 5 PR agencies for the last four years, she has kept her hand in client work — which means she has great insight into how we can offer strategic counsel to existing and new clients.

Nicole joined Burson-Marsteller in 2002 as a Manager in their Brand Marketing Practice, ultimately advancing to the firm’s senior management. During her 15 years at the firm, Nicole’s various roles included U.S. Practice Chair and CEO of Direct Impact, Burson-Marsteller’s grassroots advocacy division, from 2011 to 2014.

“I still crave rolling up my sleeves and digging into problem solving and daily creative thinking,” she says. “I know I’ll get to do that a lot at Subject Matter.”
