Steven J. Jost
Steve is a senior content strategist, working across all accounts while leading our federal government practice. He joined Avoq after having managed the two largest outreach and advertising efforts ever undertaken by the government, the Census Bureau’s multi-million-dollar awareness campaigns for the 2000 and 2010 decennials. Recently, Steve helped lead teams advocate for the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act and the landmark Infrastructure and Jobs Act.
Prior to joining Avoq, Steve was appointed associate director for communications at the U.S. Census Bureau by President Barack Obama for the 2010 Census, and by President Bill Clinton for the 2000 Census. He has twice been awarded the Gold Medal for distinguished achievement in the federal service. He previously served as the chief of staff for three members of Congress and as director of communications for a national nonprofit.
A native of California and devoted San Francisco sports fan, Steve is one of five sons whose father was a career Army officer. The family was stationed all over the U.S. and Steve was raised in destinations as diverse as Honolulu, Buffalo, NY, Santa Barbara, CA, and elsewhere.
