Lindsay Kryzak and Caitlin Canter to create additional communications-government relations synergies, expand team’s portfolio
Washington, DC – July 12, 2022 – DC-based creative advocacy firm Subject Matter today announced that longtime communications strategist Lindsay Kryzak and Hill veteran Caitlin Canter have joined the firm.
Kryzak will serve as senior vice president of policy communications, ensuring enhanced collaboration amongst the firm’s government relations, creative and communications teams. She also will help clients navigate Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulatory guidelines and develop policy initiatives and campaign plans supporting clients’ strategic goals while leveraging expertise in infrastructure, privacy and technology.
Canter brings to the government relations team a specialization in healthcare, with additional expertise in tax and trade practice areas regarding issues involving the Ways & Means Committee, House Republican leadership and the House Republican Conference.

Kryzak most recently directed the FTC’s Office of Public Affairs and served as the agency’s chief spokesperson, working on issues ranging from antitrust and COVID-19 relief fraud to surveillance and privacy. Prior to that, Kryzak directed corporate communications for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and spent a decade working for Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-NY). While working in Schumer’s office, Kryzak directed digital media and served as chief speechwriter.
Kryzak earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester and currently serves as an adjunct lecturer for the Executive MPA Program at The City University of New York, Baruch College, and as a board member of Humanities New York.
Canter joins the government relations team after serving as a principal for Capitol Counsel LLC since 2018. She spent several years working for the office of Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA), a former senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Among other roles she served as deputy chief of staff, helping advance healthcare, tax and trade issues.
Canter earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. In 2016 she co-founded Hill Helpers, an organization connecting bipartisan Hill staff with volunteer opportunities aiding Washington, D.C. nonprofits.
