Women’s History Month: Celebrating Work that Makes an Impact

As we reflect on Women’s History month, we think about the inspiring impact of women throughout history, and in our own lives and recognize the persistent challenges and danger women face today because of gender inequality.

Over the past year we are proud to have worked on projects that celebrate the contribution of women and that seek to move the needle on critical and overlooked issues that affect women:

2019 marked the centennial of women’s right to vote, a moment definitely worth celebrating. To commemorate the moment PBS celebrated those who made it happen with a social content series highlighting a century of women trailblazers. Our digital trading cards featured the accomplishments of 19 extraordinary women to commemorate passage of the 19th Amendment.

 March of Dimes

Today, many of our most vulnerable moms spend most of the first year after childbirth — when they are still at risk of complications and even death — with no or unstable health care coverage. The March of Dimes is a leading advocate for policy change that would end this crisis: legislation to extend Medicaid coverage for a full year after a mother welcomes her child into the world.

We’ve been supporting the March of Dimes to elevate this and other issues around the historically overlooked and minimized issues of maternal health, most recently securing an op-ed published in the Hill.

Heat & Soul

You might know that heart disease is the number 1 killer of women in the United States.  But we bet you don’t know that for years national health policies have been based on research conducted only on men. Women’s hearts aren’t like men’s. The WHA is fighting for equity in cardiovascular research, treatment and prevention.

We’ve been excited to support WHA’s efforts to achieve meaningful policy changes and build a strong national prevention program with social media strategy, thought leadership and as authors of the WHA’s popular bi-monthly prevention newsletter, Heart & Soul. Make sure you’re on the mailing list!
