Birhanie Geleto

Dedicated and results-drive, Birhanie has more than 20 years of experience in finance and accounting. She specializes in managing company-wide financial decisions and policy strategy, analyzing budgets, mitigating risks, and streamlining systems to improve accuracy and profitability. She’s overseen the finances for businesses across industries — from communications agencies to behavioral health care facilities.

Before Avoq, Birhanie was the director of finance for a variety of companies, including Dewey Square Group, Hill & Knowlton Strategies, Burston-Marsteller (The WPP Company) and more. As a trusted financial advisor, she led company financial and accounting operations, prepared budgets, audited financial statements, and trained leaders on how to improve financial growth. Prior to that, she was an accountant, managing the entire accounting cycle, streamlining processes and preparing state and federal tax forms.

Birhanie lives in Silver Spring, Md. Outside of work, you can find her volunteering at the Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund or serving as a board member, treasurer and auditor at the Oromo Community Organization of Washington, D.C.
