Steve Elmendorf
Steve is widely recognized as one of Washington, D.C.,’s preeminent political and legislative strategists. With a career on Capitol Hill and in politics spanning more than 30 years, Steve’s tenure in Washington has been grounded in daily interaction with the White House, administration officials, senators, members of Congress, and leading interest groups on the front lines of the major policy debates of the last decades.
Since 2006, Steve has represented some of the nation’s most important corporations, trade associations and organizations on critical legislative and regulatory issues, helping to drive their businesses, build their brands and expand their market shares. He has run advocacy coalitions, built legislative plans and executed political strategies that have influenced the discussion and won outcomes for clients.
Steve was the highest-level Democratic staffer in the House of Representatives as chief of staff to the House Democratic Leader, and previously worked in the Senate as well. He served as a senior advisor to three presidential campaigns and has maintained an active political role in House, Senate and gubernatorial campaigns. He has consistently been listed among the most influential leaders in Washington by multiple publications and commented for both cable TV and print media on the outlook in Washington.
Steve is the social media manager for Truman, his dog and best friend, past chairman of the LGBT Victory Fund and a trustee of his alma mater, Trinity College.
