
Kelly Montgomery
Kelly is an entrepreneurial and collaborative strategic communications professional, specializing in political and policy communications. She has experience working in government and for clients in the transportation and service sectors.
Before joining Avoq, Kelly worked as a communications manager at the National Restaurant Association. There, she acted as the primary communications advisor for the federal government relations and policy teams. Kelly created all policy-related content for the association’s largest annual event and developed advocacy campaigns to advance key policy issues and mobilize stakeholders. Prior to that, she was a press secretary in the Office of Congressman Dan Kildee. She wrote political and policy communications materials daily, including talking points, press releases, remarks, op-eds, radio spots, e-newsletters and social media copy. Kelly organized over 100 successful press events, served as on-the-record spokesperson, and worked with national, beltway and local media to shape stories, secure exclusives and arrange print, radio and cable interviews. She also worked for Subject Matter from 2017 to 2020, starting as a media specialist before becoming an account manager.
Kelly is a proud Midwesterner at heart, originally from Metro Detroit, Michigan. Now, she lives in Woodley Park in Washington, D.C. She takes full advantage of D.C.’s proximity to many great hiking spots and enjoys seeing great acts that come to town. She also enjoys crafts, history and being a news junkie.
