Sarah is an experienced communications professional who has worked closely with some of the country’s top politicians and organizations, helping them advance their policy agendas. She specializes in campaign management and strategy, crisis communications, media relations, and message and policy development.

Sarah works with companies of all sizes helping them devise and implement their communications and public affairs plans. She has worked with start-ups to build their reputation and name recognition, as well as established companies to advance their value proposition to stakeholders and shareholders.

Using the skills and knowledge she gained from over a decade working at various levels of government, Sarah continues to work with state and local government agencies on vast public affairs and communications campaigns. In 2024, Sarah led a multi-state teacher recruitment campaign for the Illinois State Board of Education. Also in 2024, Sarah ran a health education and awareness campaign targeted to LGBTQ+ individuals in Chicago. Prior to that, she worked with the Illinois Department on Aging on a vaccine education and awareness campaign targeted at seniors in Illinois. And in 2020, Sarah directed a successful campaign encouraging hard-to-reach residents in Illinois to complete the U.S. Census.

Prior to joining Avoq, Sarah spent more than a decade working in politics. Most recently, she was the director of communications for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, where she served as the chief spokesperson for the mayor and managed a large team of spokespeople across the city. While at City Hall, Sarah was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to communicate and advance the mayor’s policy agenda, as well as overseeing all rapid response functions.

Sarah lives in Chicago and enjoys traveling, watching sports, and all things outdoors (except camping).
