Shazat Shawan
Shazat supports clients with strategic communications, in-depth research, earned media, legislative efforts, social media management and digital campaign work. He works with clients across sectors, including nonprofits, renewable energy companies, law firms and advocacy groups.
Shazat has worked on several notable Avoq projects, including an effort to pass the Clean Water, Clean Air and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022, which was overwhelmingly passed by New York voters in the 2022 general election.
Prior to joining Avoq, Shazat gained policy, public relations and campaign experience through his work at the offices of New York State Assembly member Harvey Epstein and New York City Council member Christopher Marte.
Shazat lives in New York, and you can typically find him volunteering at local community gardens or visiting one of the city’s many art galleries or museums.
