Maura Farrell
With more than 25 years in the communications industry, Maura has directed media strategy, community outreach and public relations campaign plans for a wide range of corporations and associations. She has extensive experience in media relations, executive positioning and crisis management.
Maura thrives on telling stories, and she works vigorously to find engaging narratives for clients. She meticulously researches her clients to learn all about them, then uses her extensive network of media relations, digital advertising experience and employee communications knowledge to ensure their stories are told. She is a tireless problem-solver who develops a never-ending list of story ideas for clients to work with.
Maura’s clients include universities, energy companies, financial industry leaders, foundations and commercial real estate companies. She works with many cultural institutions, foundations, philanthropists and corporate boards to develop communications strategies and campaigns. She has counseled numerous CEOs and company leaders facing media scrutiny.
Prior to joining Avoq, Maura owned her own boutique PR firm for 10 years. Before that, she was a managing director at Hill & Knowlton, where she managed the media training unit and handled some of the company’s clients’ largest crises. She began her career in Chicago working as the assignment editor at two TV newsrooms in Chicago: WBBM, the CBS-owned and -operated station, and WFLD, which is owned by FOX.
Maura is from Evanston, IL, where she lives with her husband and three children.
